Principal Alan Johnson said: "It's great to see Newent Community School pupils displaying more of their talents while really enjoying themselves and getting involved in the community. I am delighted to have begun my new role as Principal of such a thriving school and look forward to building further links with it over the coming months. Our aim is to be 'outstanding' in all areas and these outstanding cakes are just a taste of things to come!"
Design Technology teacher Pippa Palmer who organises the event added: “The activity is a fun House competition which gives all children an opportunity to show their flair and talent and also raise awareness about the fund-raising carried out by The Friends of Newent School. The students have been keen to enter a cake and parents have told me they have been practising during the summer. It is an honour and privilege to be able to provide a platform for our young people to display their talents using food as a medium.”
During the past two years this event has raised more than £1,000 towards enriching additional provisions for students.
