Purple4Polio - Crocus Planting at the School
Rotary International are planting 7 million purple crocus bulbs to celebrate the 30 year effort of the Rotary Club to eliminate polio across the world. Newent and District Club (just a small market town club) are planting 20,000 in Newent and local villages. The Rotary members were delighted to join with Newent Community School and Sixth Form Centre to plant 2,500 at the entrance of the School.
Rotary members were pleased to have the support from Principal Alan Johnson, Marie Hood and other School staff. They were particularly pleased to work with the Student Young Leaders who actually planted the bulbs. Hopefully next February/early March the School entrance will be a mass of purple, reminding us all of the ‘Purple4Polio’ Rotary campaign.
